Frequently asked questions
What is Hourdeck?
Hourdeck is an AI-native timesheet built for Azure DevOps. Your team logs time against real work items, managers approve it, and it turns into reports you build by clicking the DevOps fields you care about — no spreadsheets, no technical setup. It runs both as an Azure DevOps extension and as a standalone web app.
Does it work inside Azure DevOps?
Yes. Hourdeck installs as an Azure DevOps extension, so your team tracks time on a dedicated tab and directly on each work item — no context switching. You sign in with your Microsoft account and projects, work items and iterations sync automatically.
How does "estimate my week" work?
The AI reads your own Azure DevOps activity for the week — the work items you touched, your comments, and your git commits — and drafts a timesheet from it. You review, adjust and accept; nothing is ever recorded without you. It learns from your edits so it gets more accurate the more you use it.
Do I need my own AI or Anthropic key?
No. AI features work out of the box — usage is metered as AI credits. If you prefer, you can bring your own AI key. Either way there's nothing extra to set up.
Can I import my existing time history?
Yes. If you're moving from another time tracker, paste its Reporting API URL and token and Hourdeck imports your full history — users, projects, work items and billable flags. It's safe to run more than once; entries update in place, so there are no duplicates.
How much does it cost? Is there a free plan?
Hourdeck is free for up to 3 users. Paid Team and Business plans (AI credits included) are launching on the Microsoft commercial marketplace with a 1-month free trial.
Is my data secure?
Every organization's data is fully isolated, secrets are encrypted at rest, and sign-in uses Microsoft SSO. You can export everything to CSV or via the API at any time — no lock-in.
